A 20kV dry type distribution transformer steps 20 kV primary distribution voltage down to utilisation voltage using cast-resin or open-wound dry-type construction. It brings the fire safety and low maintenance of dry-type technology to medium voltage distribution.

20kV Dry Type vs Oil Immersed for Medium Voltage Distribution
Oil-immersed units are cheaper per kVA and suit outdoor substations, but need oil containment and fire protection. Dry-type units cost more upfront but eliminate fire risk, reduce building requirements and suit indoor, urban and high-value installations.
